A two-day Intra Moot Court competition was organized by VIT-AP Law School in which the team consisting of Mantena Bhavya Sri, Penumaka Sri Nikhi and Pilla Mounisha Sai were named the winners. Eight teams qualified for the quarter-finals among the 18 participating teams in 1st and 2nd year of BA LL.B. (with distinction), BBA LL. B (Hons) Programs in the two-day competition which runs from 17-18 May 2022.
Dr. Benarji Chakka, Dean of VIT-AP Law School, during his inaugural address said that a mock court is a miniature version of a real courtroom where legal proceedings and trials take place. It is also known as Moot Court, in which law students act as professionals and take on all assigned responsibilities and tasks to demonstrate their ability to think creatively, respond convincingly when they are interviewed and demonstrate their oratorical, writing and persuasive skills. .
The program coordinator, Professor Mula Sneha Goud informed that a civil case had been chosen for the competition. The selection of the plaintiff and the respondent was made by lot. The case was argued by the teams before the bench comprising NJ Ratnakumar, Junior Senior Civil Judge cum Metropolitan Magistrate, Nandigama, YV Anil Kumar, Barrister, Andhrapradesh High Court, AV Parthasaradhi, Rtd. Dist. & Sessions Judge. Teams including Mantena Bhavya sri, Penumaka Sri Nikki, Pilla Mounisha Sai and Beeda Rashmitha Rani Yadav, Chintala Srivani, Anagha Promod appeared in the final rounds ahead of Bench. The best speaker award to Penumaka Sri Nikhi, the best researcher award to Anagha Promod and the best memorial award to Beeda Rashmitha Rani Yadav, Chintala Srivani, Anagha Promod.
Dr. SV Kota Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of VIT-AP University, who was the guest of honor at the farewell and award distribution, shared his views with the participating teams and encouraged the Students participating in activities such as the moot court competition will help students engage and understand legal issues, analyze legal topics, and work on their research.
Dr. CLV Sivakumar, Registrar, VIT-AP University, said the VIT-AP Law School Advocacy Competition provides first- and second-year students with a valuable opportunity to hone their written and oral advocacy skills in this competitive field.
